Don’t be afraid to ask for help with your anxiety

5 min read
The root cause of your anxiety will determine the course of your anxiety throughout your life. The root cause can be either a personal issue or a general one that affects your community.

Everyone feels anxiety from time to time. It’s a natural human emotion that can be experienced differently and for different reasons.
Whether you are a professional who operates under strict deadlines or an anxious parent who worries about your child, you will experience intense anxiety occasionally.
Unfortunately, these symptoms usually point to two extreme options: ignore it and hope it goes away, or let it consume you. Whilst the first option is usually the healthier choice, the second one often leads to more problems and long-term effects.
No matter how much you may try not to notice it, anxiety is a constant presence in everyone’s life. Fortunately, there are ways that you can stop feeling anxious and feel like yourself again.

Find the root cause of your anxiety.

The root cause of your anxiety will determine the course of your anxiety throughout your life. The root cause can be either a personal issue or a general one that affects your community. For example, if you’re often anxious because of a fear of public speaking, your anxiety may stem from a phobia or an emotional trauma from a person in your life. The root cause of your anxiety can be discovered by listing all the things that cause you anxiety and then identifying the ones that cause the least amount of anxiety.

Learn the five primary fears that everyone feels when they’re nervous.

When you’re anxious, you will often experience different types of feelings; some will be general feelings like nervousness or shyness, and others will be more specific to the situation you’re in. The five primary fears that everyone has when they’re nervous are FEAR OF: – being in situations where you don’t know how to react – being in situations where you might screw up – having people (including yourself) notice your nervousness – not being able to express your thoughts/feelings.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help with your anxiety.

Although you may feel proud of yourself if you ask a friend to sit in on your doctor’s appointment, many people are afraid to ask for help with their anxiety. Staying in the dark about your symptoms can lead to a great deal of anxiety and unnecessary suffering. When you fear you’ll be exposed as “afraid to ask for help,” other people will sense this and feel jittery themselves. As a result, the anxiety will spread, and others will feel self-conscious around you.

Take a timeout or go for a walk.

Staying in the house and avoiding social situations is the best way to avoid anxiety. If you are at all worried about something, go out and do something that you feel comfortable with. Take a walk in the park or visit a museum. Visit a cafe where you feel at home. Just go where you feel comfortable and at ease.

Get some exercise

If you’re not doing anything physical daily, you’re probably at risk of osteoporosis and other bone-related diseases. Exercise is a proven stress buster that can help you feel more confident and less nervous. It is also a great way to burn calories and improve your health. Exercising both before and after you feel anxious can help you identify your triggers to avoid them in the future.

Surprise yourself by owning your fears.

Owning your fears is the most crucial step toward overcoming them. To overcome your fears, you must be honest about why you are afraid of what you are afraid of. You have to ask yourself why you are afraid of public speaking, for example, and then look in the mirror and say, “I’m not afraid of that. This is ridiculous.” Once you start to do this, the anxiety will start to fade. You can also try this at the office or in your home. It will help you feel more in control if you’re honest with yourself about why you are afraid.

Conclusion

Anxiousness is a familiar feeling that many people experience at different times in their lives. No two people experience it the same way, and the feeling can vary from mild to intense. Anxiousness is normal and will pass as your body adjusts to new situations and circumstances. Anxious people often worry a lot which is why it is essential to identify the root cause of your anxiety.

If you’re worried that you’re displaying anxious symptoms, don’t be. Many people feel anxious before a big event and then freak out when it happens. You will feel much more comfortable and confident once you face your fears.
